The Phanar archdiocese has announced a search for a candidate to fill the vacant priest position

The Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos of the Orthodox Church in Crete (within the Patriarchate of Constantinople) has announced a search for a candidate for the vacant position of full-time priest. The open position involves serving at St. Demetrios Church in Alades, Milopotamos, Rethymno. This initiative is aimed at filling the pastoral care needs of the parish in a timely manner.

According to the Vima Orthodoxias portal, the announcement was issued due to the need to fill a staff position. The decision is based on the provisions of Article 4 of Law No. 4149/1961 «On the Statutory Law of the Orthodox Church in Crete and certain other provisions», as well as Articles 1-5 of Regulation No. 1/2013 of the Holy Diocesan Synod of the Orthodox Church in Crete «On Priests and Deacons» regarding the duties of priests and deacons.

Interested persons with the necessary canonical and legal qualifications are invited to participate. They are invited to submit the complete package of required documents. The deadline for applications is ten (10) days from the date of publication and posting of the announcement. Candidates must submit a comprehensive set of documents to be considered by the competent ecclesiastical authorities.

The Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamou encourages all those who are interested and meet the requirements to respond in a timely manner in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the pastoral ministry at St. Demetrios Church of Alades.

As a reminder, earlier Archbishop Eugene of Crete reaffirmed the unwavering love and devotion of the Cretan Church and the Cretan people to the Patriarch of Constantinople. Speaking from the ambo of the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Mina shortly after the return of the Synodal Delegation from Phanar, he emphasized the deep connection with the Mother Church, despite the problems caused by third party interference.
