Romanian Orthodox Church to offer special prayer for peace in Ukraine

In all parishes of the Romanian Patriarchate, special prayers will be offered for peace and an end to the war in Ukraine on February 22, 2026. The event marks the four-year anniversary of the start of the devastating conflict.
According to ORTHODOXIANEWSAGENCY.GR, Romanian Orthodox priests, both in the country itself and in the diaspora, will pray in all churches, chapels and monasteries, as well as in the chapels of hospitals and social centers.
The purpose of these prayers is to end hostilities, to change hearts inclined to war, and to provide aid and comfort to the wounded, refugees and all those affected by this calamity. The Prayer for Peace, approved by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, will also be recited during the litanies with special petitions for peace at the Divine Liturgy.
Earlier, on the eve of the New Year, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia urged believers to pray for good changes in Ukraine, which would help strengthen Orthodoxy, the unity of the Russian Church and the prosperity of the Ukrainian people.
