UOC hierarch takes part in the Conference of Orthodox Bishops of Germany

on March 7, 2026, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the head of the Western European Vicariate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bishop Veniamin of Boyarka, took part in the 31st Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Orthodox Bishops of Germany (OBKD). According to the UOC Information and Education Department, the meeting was held at the Diocesan Center of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Düsseldorf and Germany under the leadership of the head of the Conference, Metropolitan Augustine.

The bishop was accompanied by a clergyman of the Western European Vicariate, Archpriest Maxim Boychura, who acted as an interpreter. The assembly was attended by representatives of the Greek, Serbian, Romanian and Ukrainian dioceses. The participants of the meeting congratulated Bishop Veniamin and decided to admit the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Conference of Orthodox Bishops of Germany as an observer.

Earlier, the Western European Vicariate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church published a document approved by the clergy on February 6, 2026 in Bari (Italy), which explains in detail the features and goals of its pastoral ministry abroad. This document emphasizes the independence of the UOC from any other religious centers, refuting accusations of ties to the Russian Orthodox Church, and focuses on providing spiritual care to Ukrainian citizens who have been forced to leave their homeland.
