An ecumenical "way of the cross" of representatives of the UGCC and the RCC took place in Sofia Kyivska

on March 27, a joint event of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic Churches — the so-called ecumenical procession — took place on the territory of the national reserve «Sophia of Kyiv». The religious action was dedicated to praying for Ukrainian prisoners of war, their families and the establishment of a just peace.

According to the press service of the UGCC, the prayer procession was led by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas. The event was also attended by the head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the ordinariate of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese of the RCC Bishop Vitaliy Krivitsky, representatives of public organizations and government agencies. The participants walked through the territory of the reserve, accompanying the way with thematic performances, and the event ended with a divine service in St. Sophia Cathedral in front of the mosaic of Our Lady of Oranta.

It should be noted that such events echo the previously voiced position of the head of the UGCC. Sviatoslav Shevchuk suggested that the state compile a list of national shrines, which are symbols of unity and, in his opinion, should not be in the exclusive use of any one denomination. The leader of the Uniates considers St. Sophia of Kyiv to be among such objects.
