A clergyman of the UOC was tonsured a monk in Khustka diocese

on March 27, 2026, a significant spiritual event took place in the village of Nankovo in Transcarpathia: with the blessing of Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv, a monastic tonsure was performed. During the service Archpriest Demetrius Shutko accepted monasticism with the name Dorofei.
As the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports with reference to the press service of the Khustka diocese, the solemn rite was held in the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God «Nankovskaya». The service was headed by the vicar of the Khustka diocese, Bishop Mark of Rakhiv.
Taking monastic tonsure is a special step, symbolizing the complete renunciation of worldly life and dedication to the search for spiritual perfection. The diocese noted the importance of this event, wishing the newly tonsured Hieromonk Dorofei strength, humility and zeal in his future service to the glory of God.
Recall that on March 27, 2026, Friday of the fifth week of Lent, in St. George’s Ward of St. Nicholas Gorodok Convent a significant ecclesiastical event took place — five nuns of the monastery took monastic tonsure in the small schema. Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostrozh performed the ceremony.
