Volodymyr Zelensky confirms Ukraine's readiness for Easter truce

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he is ready to introduce a ceasefire regime, in particular for the Easter holiday period. The main condition for the implementation of this initiative is the complete and real cessation of attacks by the Russian Federation.

According to the NV publication, the Ukrainian leader emphasized Kiev’s openness to various de-escalation formats. This applies not only to land battles, but also to ensuring energy security, as well as the protection of food corridors, sea and air space.

Uladzimir Zelenski noted that the goal of such agreements is a situation in which “no missiles or drones would fly” and no strikes would be launched against critical infrastructure. The President emphasized that Ukraine was ready to consider any proposal for a ceasefire if the Russian side showed real readiness to observe the silence regime.

The head of state also emphasized that the actions of the Ukrainian side would be mirror-like: if Russia ceases shelling, Ukraine will also not launch retaliatory strikes. In addition, Zelensky expressed the opinion that it would be advisable to extend such a truce after the end of the Easter period.

We shall remind you that earlier Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, to develop new approaches to holidays and special dates in the Ukrainian calendar. The initiative is aimed “at streamlining the existing system, taking into account historical events, tragic coincidences and outdated legacy of the Soviet period”.
