OCU holds synod meeting in selected residence of UOC Primate in Kyiv Cave Monastery

on April 3, 2026, a meeting of the Synod of the OCU was held at the residence of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, access to which was restricted by the state for the canonical Church. The event was led by the head of the organization Epiphany Dumenko. This is reported by the press service of the OCU.

According to the press service of the OCU, a number of resonant decisions were made during the meeting. In particular, the orders affected the activities of the UOC-KP, which the OCU calls a non-canonical structure, denying the legality of the assignment of titles and titles by its representatives. In addition, the OCU declared its unconditional right to the property of the UOC-KP: St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral in Kyiv, the residence of the UOC-KP at 36 Chykalenko Street, and other churches in Ukraine.

At the same time, the Synod of the OCU also considered other issues that will be given special attention.

Earlier, the OCU officially announced the transfer of rights to the brand and property of the Kyiv Patriarchate under its control. According to the organization’s press service, the name «Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kyiv Patriarchate» is now an additional official name of the OCU, and St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral in Kyiv has been granted the status of the second cathedral of the structure.
