The head of the UGCC celebrated Easter according to the Western Christian calendar together with Roman Catholics

The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, together with the head of the Kiev-Zhytomyr diocese of the RCC, Vitaliy Kryvitsky, took part in Easter worship events according to the Western Christian calendar at the Alexander Roman Catholic Cathedral in Kiev. Shevchuk congratulated Roman Catholics on Easter, expressing confidence that the risen Christ will help overcome the darkness of war and grant Ukraine the long-awaited victory. About it reports the official website of the UGCC.
«Christ is risen! Can there be a word of consolation stronger than that word, that joy, that light, which today the Church of Christ proclaims to the world! On this Easter night, East, West, North, South together proclaim: Christ is risen from the dead, defeated death by death, and gave life to those who are in the tombs», — began his word Blessed Sviatoslav.
Recall, earlier we reported that the UGCC is considering a transition to a common date for the celebration of Easter in coordination with Rome and Constantinople. To date, all foreign structures of the organization already celebrate the Resurrection of Christ according to the Western calendar, while within Ukraine the Eastern tradition is preserved for the sake of ensuring church unity.
