In Uganda, Islamist extremists killed a Protestant pastor after a sermon

In Uganda, Protestant pastor Alfred Kitengu was killed in a brutal attack by radical Islamists. The tragedy occurred after a missionary event where the clergyman was preaching Christian doctrine among the local population, including the Muslim community.
According to Morning Star News, the incident took place on the evening of April 9, 2026. A group of miscreants, who identified themselves as motorcycle cab drivers and Christian followers, offered the pastor and his wife a free ride home after completing the presentation. However, during the ride, the route was suddenly changed and the attackers were joined by accomplices.
According to the wife of the deceased, who managed to survive the attack, the actions of the perpetrators were sudden and extremely brutal. The attackers beat the couple and inflicted multiple fatal stab wounds on the pastor. Church leaders later discovered Alfred Kitengu’s body on the side of the road. Local police have already launched investigations but for now the suspects remain at large.
The religious community and Christian human rights organizations have expressed deep sorrow and serious concern for the safety of preachers in the region. Experts link the attack to the pastor’s active missionary activities. It is worth noting that cases of persecution of Christians in Uganda have been recorded before, which makes it necessary to strengthen measures to protect the rights of believers.
