The Council of Bishops of the ROCOR opened in Munich on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the German diocese

on April 29, 2026, the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) began its work in the suburbs of Munich. The event, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the German diocese, brought together the highest hierarchs to discuss key issues of church life and participate in solemn services.
According to the SPJ portal in Germany, the meetings are being held at the Monastery of St. Elizabeth Feodorovna, a new martyr, in Buchendorf. This monastery, founded in 2005, is the only Russian Orthodox women’s monastery in Germany, which emphasizes the symbolic importance of the chosen location for the jubilee Council.
Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, as well as Bishop Job of Stuttgart, Bishop Irinej of London and Western Europe and other representatives of the clergy are taking part in the work of the congress. During the meetings, the bishops plan to consider topical administrative and spiritual issues facing the Church in modern conditions.
The program of events includes not only official meetings, but also festive services dedicated to the century-long history of the German Archdiocese. Earlier it was reported that joint Easter celebrations were held in the churches of the ROCOR, which testifies to the church’s continuing active efforts to unite believers abroad.
