In the U.S., a Catholic nun has started a support group for parents of transgender children

In the American city of St. Louis, 81-year-old nun Nancy Corcoran organized a support group at her order’s main building for families whose children identify as transgender. A representative of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet has openly advocated for a reevaluation of traditional church dogmas, promoting gender ideology directly within the convent walls. This was reported byLifeSiteNews.
It is reported that Sister Nancy holds regular meetings for two dozen Catholic families. According to the nun, it is through this work that she has come to understand “unconditional love.” She expressed confidence that in the future, the Roman Catholic Church will officially recognize the human right to gender transition. Corcoran began her work in this area ten years ago after meeting a transgender student.
The official leadership of the Archdiocese of St. Louis was quick to distance itself from the nun’s initiative. Director of Communications Brecht Malwichill emphasized that this project is not part of the city’s Catholic community’s official structure and has no connection to the archdiocese’s programs. Similar trends have previously been observed in the U.S. and among other denominations; in particular, the Methodist Church has already supported laws regarding gender transition for children.
