Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople met with Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria in Istanbul

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew warmly welcomed Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria, who arrived in Constantinople on an official visit on the morning of Tuesday, June 9. According to Orthodox Times, this meeting underscores the importance of dialogue between the local Orthodox Churches.
After a warm welcome at the airport, both Primates set off for the island of Imbros (Gökçeada)—the birthplace and ancestral home of Patriarch Bartholomew. The hierarchs are expected to spend several days on the island, continuing the visit’s program in a friendly atmosphere.
As a reminder, we previously reported that Patriarch Bartholomew will celebrate his name day in 2026 on his native island of Imbros. According to official reports, Patriarch Daniel of Romania and Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria will participate in the celebrations .
