A cleric from the Western European Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church met with a hierarch of the Phanar in Germany

On July 9 of this year, a meeting took place between representatives of the Orthodox clergy in Germany: Archpriest Sergei Gaevsky, Dean of the Western District of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, held talks with Metropolitan Augustine, Exarch of Central Europe for the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

According to and shaltnotkill.info, the main topic of the dialogue was current issues concerning the church life of Orthodox believers in Western Europe. The participants paid particular attention to organizing spiritual support for Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homeland, as well as discussing initiatives to provide comprehensive assistance to families and Orthodox youth under the new circumstances.

As a reminder, we previously reported that the Parish of the Nativity of Christ, which belonged to the Western European Vicariate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Germany, , officially transferred to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Although the actual reasons for this move have not been specified, it was formally undertaken “in connection with the protracted conflict in Ukraine and the need to provide canonical arrangements for church ministry to Ukrainian believers who have been living abroad for a long time.”
