A fire broke out in a wooden church in Volyn that had been taken from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

A fire broke out at St. Barbara’s Church in the Kovel District of the Volyn Region, located in the village of Mashev in the Vishnevskaya community. Thanks to the prompt response of emergency responders, the church was saved from complete destruction.

According to Bug.org.ua, emergency services received a report of the fire on August 30 at 3:46 p.m. Teams from the State Emergency Service in Luboml and the town of Starovoitovo, as well as local fire departments from the villages of Shtun and Golovno, immediately arrived at the scene.

Through their joint efforts, the fire was completely extinguished by 5:37 p.m. According to preliminary data, the fire damaged part of the walls, the ceiling, the entrance doors, and some church property. Experts are currently investigating the cause of the emergency.

It is worth noting that earlier, the church dedicated to St. Barbara the Great Martyr in the village of Mashev, Volyn Oblast, was seized from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by supporters of the OCU.
