In the Vinnytsia region, parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church built a new church after their previous one was seized by supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

In the Vinnytsia region, a parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) celebrated an important event: On August 31, 2026, a new church dedicated to the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God was consecrated in the village of Dzhurin, Zhmerynka District. The construction of their own building was the congregation’s response to the loss of their previous place of worship, according to “First Cossack.”

The community’s former church was re-registered in the name of the OCU in 2023, which deprived the UOC parishioners of the opportunity to hold regular services in the historic church. The situation gained widespread attention in 2025, when the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, visited the village to mark the 200th anniversary of the church’s transfer to the OCU. Despite the circumstances, believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church joined forces to build a new place of worship.

The rite of the Great Consecration and the subsequent Divine Liturgy were presided over by Metropolitan Agapit of Mogilev-Podolsk and Shargorod. During the solemn ceremony, His Eminence expressed words of gratitude to the rector and the congregation for their steadfastness and hard work. Church awards and blessed certificates were presented to particularly distinguished benefactors and builders of the church, underscoring the significance of each parishioner’s contribution to the completion of this project.
