The Hegumen of the Georgian Church expressed his condolences regarding the tragedy at the Svyatogorsk Lavra

The murder of Monk Varsonofy at the Svyatogorsk Lavra came as a profound shock to the entire Christian world, sparking a wave of grief and condemnation among the clergy. Abbot Nazariy Basilaya of the Georgian Orthodox Church expressed his sincere condolences to the monastic community, calling the incident an act of unjustified violence.

In his address at , Father Nazariy emphasized that this tragedy is an exceptionally severe ordeal. The clergyman noted that believers around the world share in the pain of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, where one monk was killed and two others were injured to varying degrees as a result of the attack.

The Georgian abbot drew parallels with historical persecutions of the clergy, emphasizing the danger of a return to the methods of violence characteristic of the era of the Bolshevik regime. He called on the faithful to pray fervently so that such crimes would not be repeated in the future.
