Epiphany Dumenko will conduct religious services at the UOC’s cathedral in Cherkasy, which was violently seized by OCU militants

The head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, will visit Cherkasy, where he will lead religious services at St. Michael’s Cathedral of the UOC, which was seized by militants hired by the OCU in 2024.

According to a statement from the OCU’s Cherkasy Diocese, Dumenko’s visit is an important event for the region. During the events, OCU supporters will offer prayers for Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders, and the entire nation. Upon completion of the events, the head of the OCU will conduct a “prayer service” at the relics of Makarii of Kanev.

As a reminder, on October 17, 2024, following a failed nighttime attempt to seize the cathedral, OCU raiders, having increased their numbers, finally took control of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. During the latest clash, the clergy and parishioners of the cathedral were driven out of the building. Many clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church sustained injuries of varying severity and chemical burns from the tear gas used by the raiders.
