The court proceedings in the case involving the Upper Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra have been postponed until November

The next court hearing on the use of the Upper Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra’s facilities has been postponed. According to the latest information, the new hearing date has been set for November 3.
According to the channel “Forteza Lavra,” the proceedings concern a dispute over the right of the monastic community of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to use the Cathedral of the Dormition and the Refectory Church. This legal proceeding has been ongoing since 2023 and has been accompanied by high public tension.
The situation surrounding the hearings remains complicated: according to available information, radical individuals have recently been active in the courtroom. It is reported that they are openly threatening believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as the lawyers defending them.
As a reminder, earlier, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, a lawyer for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), issued a statement regarding systematic provocations and direct threats of physical violence directed against those defending the interests of the UOC. The lawyers have faced organized aggression from a group of individuals attempting to discredit the legal activities of the Church’s defenders.
