The Primate of the UOC presides over the divine service on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the episcopal service of Metropolitan Sergius (Gensitsky)

On February 17, 2021, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onufry celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Epiphany Convent in Kremenets, the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports.

The Primate was co-served by Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vinogradov, Metropolitan of Kamenets-Podilsky and Gorodoksky Theodore, Metropolitan Sergius of Ternopil and Kremenets, bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, clergy of the Ternopil diocese and guests in priesthood.

After reading the Holy Gospel, His Beatitude addressed the flock with a sermon.

During the service, special prayers were raised for the end of the coronavirus epidemic, for doctors and the recovery of patients.

After the Liturgy, the hierarchs and clergy, headed by the Primate, performed the rite of glorifying the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry congratulated Vladyka Sergius on the 30th anniversary of his episcopal service and thanked him for his diligent service to the Church and keeping the purity of Orthodoxy. The Primate wished the Metropolitan God’s blessing, inspiration, strength to continue to work for the glory of God and for the good of the Holy Church tirelessly, to nourish the flock of the verbal sheep of the people of God.

The archpastor honored Metropolitan Sergius with the distinction of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – the highest award of the UOC. Then the Primate congratulated the Abbess of the Kremenets Monastery, Abbess Marionilla on the 70th anniversary of the monastic tonsure and the 30th anniversary of the abbot obedience. His Beatitude Vladyka awarded the Abbess the Order of the Monk Job of Pochaev, 1st degree.

Metropolitan Sergius and Matushka Marionilla thanked the Primate in return for his care and support and presented His Beatitude with memorable gifts.
