Filaret told why the OCU was not given the status of patriarchy

The OCU is a structure dependent on the Patriarchate of Constantinople, and the patriarchy cannot be part of the patriarchy. The head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko stated this while the interview for the TV channel “Ukraine 24”.

“No one asks why the Patriarch of Constantinople did not give autocephaly to the OCU in the status of patriarchate. Moreover, because the patriarchate cannot be subordinate to the Patriarchate of Constantinople. And the metropolis can be subordinated. In addition, we see that today the OCU depends on the Patriarchate of Constantinople. This dependence is above all the fact that the activities of the OCU are limited by the borders of Ukraine,” said the head of the UOC-KP.
