Alexander Mamai: There is no UOC-MP structure, any requests to ban it are letters to the village of grandfather

Poltava mayor Oleksandr Mamai commented on why he once removed from the agenda of the session the appeal of the city council to the president regarding the ban on the UOC. This was reported by the online edition of Poltava region.

“I believe that we have no moral right to associate the church with politics and tell the president what to do. As far as I know, he has his own position — not to drag the churches into the conflict,” the mayor said.

“Moreover, such an organization as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate does not exist a priori. That is, even if the deputies even made this decision, then it would legally be a letter to the village of grandfather. It is a pity that some deputies who are pushing this issue are not only splitting the state and our city, but also do not know certain legal issues, ”summed up the mayor.
