Supporters of the OCU in the Rivne region failed to "transfer" the arrival of the UOC to their confession

On February 12, 2023, a meeting of the religious community of the UOC was held in the courtyard of the Paraskevievsky Church in the new Korets in the Rivne region. The meeting was initiated by local activists of the OCU, who put the issue of changing the confession on the agenda. This was reported by the press service of the Rivne diocese of the UOC.

“An announcement on social networks about a meeting regarding the transition to the OCU was posted in local groups. People actively reacted to this initiative and discussed it. Then, not only the parishioners of the church, but also people who had nothing to do with it, came to the temple, more than 20 men from the local self-defense came, ”said Archpriest Andrei Dyachek, Dean of the First Korets Deanery.

However, during the voting for the change of jurisdiction, the supporters of the OCU did not get the required number of votes.

“The rector of the Paraskevievsky parish stated that the transition did not take place and the religious community of the UOC remains faithful to His Beatitude Onufry. Representatives of the OCU agreed with the decision and went home, ”the press service of the diocese said in a statement.
