The OCU should speak with the monks of the Lavra not with ultimatums - Kirill Govorun

The OCU should not speak with the monks of the Lavra with ultimatums. This was stated by Kirill Govorun on Radio N.

The theologian noted that the head of the OCU, Epifaniy, “refused ultimatums in relations with the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, noting the need for convincing arguments and finding a compromise.”

Govorun also added that the position of the Lavra, expressed in the last appeal, is «unacceptable for the OCU», but at the same time stressed that «one cannot afford to lose one’s only Lavra.»

“We must speak with the monks of our Lavra not with ultimatums, but with convincing arguments,” he said. “We must look for a compromise and a joint solution.”

According to Govorun, there are currently some difficulties in this process, but «these difficulties can be overcome if all parties are open to dialogue and are in the spirit of finding a common solution.»
