In the case of the attack on Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomyia, criminal proceedings have been opened under the article «hooliganism». This was announced by the press secretary of the Chernivtsi region police Karolina Marisheva in a conversation with BBC Ukraine, commenting on the course of the case with the beating, which is being investigated by the police.
According to her, on the evening of April 10, the police received an appeal from a 42-year-old man (Bishop Nikita) about an attack on him. It happened on Sahaydachna Street in Chernivtsi around 22:35. The driver got out of the car, began to insult the bishop and hit him in the face.
«Investigators have launched an investigation into the case under the first part of Article 296 of the Criminal Code — «hooliganism.» The police are still investigating all the circumstances of the conflict,» the media spokesman said.
