In Sinyak, local authorities sealed the temple of the UOC

According to UOJ sources, on May 6, 2023, in the village of Sinyak, Kyiv region, the authorities held a “meeting of the religious community” of the Intercession Church of the UOC in a local club.

The village meeting, attended by about 130 people, began at 11:00. At that time, the real religious community of the Intercession Church held a divine service in the temple on the occasion of the feast of the Great Martyr George the Victorious.

It is reported that none of the members of the real religious community was present at the meeting at the club. Nevertheless, it was decided to seal the temple on it. Around 13:00, the activists, led by village head Vera Dmitrievna Marchenko, came to the temple and hung a chain with a lock and a seal on the gate.

According to the community, at 8:00 am on May 7, activists announced a new meeting near the gates of the temple. As the parishioners say, they are required to go «either to the OCU or to the Greek Catholics.» According to them, of those who made the decision to seal the church, “no one comes to the church even on Easter.”
