In Chernivtsi, the city authorities take away the temple from the Romanian-speaking parish of the UOC due to the refusal to go into schism

The mayor of Chernivtsi Roman Klichuk, together with the deputies of the Chernivtsi city council, decided to punish the Orthodox Romanian-speaking parish of the temple-tomb in honor of the Three Hierarchs for the fact that the religious community, together with the rector, Father Christopher, refused to go into schism. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina diocese of the UOC.

«Tomorrow at 13:00, at the address: Chernivtsi, Chisinau street 1 (cemetery on Zelenaya), the city authorities plan to make an inventory of the property of the parish, seal the temple and transfer it to the balance of the city cemetery,» the message says.

The diocese emphasized that «for the first time in modern history, a Romanian-speaking Orthodox parish will be destroyed in Ukraine. The Romanian community of Ukraine expresses its indignation at the poaching actions of the mayor of Chernivtsi. After all, the temple-tomb was built at the expense of the Bukovina Metropolis Fund in 1881 and restored at the expense of Romanian societies, consulates of Romania and parishioners in 1990».

«For 33 years, the city authorities in no way helped in the restoration of the temple and in the care of the adjacent territory of the cemetery,» the press service of the diocese notes.
