The Turkish authorities, after long negotiations, allowed Patriarch Bartholomew to serve in the monastery of Panagia Sumela

On July 24, the Turkish authorities gave oral permission to the Ecumenical Patriarchate to celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the ancient monastery of Panagia Sumela. This is reported by “Orthodox Times”.
It is noted that in the coming days, written permission will also be received for the patriarchal service on August 15 in Trabzon. On this day, the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary according to the New Julian calendar will take place.
Earlier, we reported that a few days ago, the Turkish authorities decided not to allow the Divine Liturgy to be held in the Sumela Monastery on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Then this act was criticized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek government.
