Patriarch Kirill: UOC ban will become "religious apartheid" in Ukraine

Patriarch Kirill said that if the Verkhovna Rada officially banned the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, it would be a blow to society and «religious apartheid.» He said this on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, writes Pravblog.

«Any ban will be illegal. It will undoubtedly harm Ukrainian society itself. This can only be done with a hot head, without thinking about the consequences. There can be nothing like this in a modern country in Europe,» the Primate of the Russian Church noted.

He recalled that South Africa once faced apartheid, which reached its peak in 1948, and managed to cope with it with great effort. «What about religious apartheid here?» — said the Patriarch.
