Patriarch Bartholomew called Ukrainians and Russians "fraternal peoples"

On August 6, 2023, during his sermon at the Transfiguration Church on the island of Proti, Patriarch Bartholomew called Ukrainians and Russians “fraternal peoples,” fosfanariou reports.

“We are witnessing a brutal war in Ukraine, the end of which is not visible today. A war in which one Orthodox state, with the patriarchal blessing of the official Mother Church, is at war with another Orthodox fraternal people,” said the head of the Phanar.
