Ukrainian banks refused those who wanted to make a deposit for Metropolitan Pavel

According to lawyer Nikita Chekman, Ukrainian financial institutions prevented the payment of bail for Metropolitan Pavel, blocked the funds and returned them to the donors’ accounts.
“Parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have repeatedly approached us with complaints about problems that arose when trying to pay a deposit for Metropolitan Pavel,” the lawyer noted. − Some banks refused to make transfers to the special account of the State Judicial Administration without justification. Other banks cited financial monitoring and sanctions that allegedly made it impossible to make payments. We inform you that there have also been cases of blocking funds and returning them to the accounts of persons who tried to deposit a deposit.”
But the lawyer emphasized that the believers still managed to collect the required amount, since they did it “in all possible ways”: “On the popular initiative,” banks “were organized in the applications of national banks, carnivals for donations were in the Lavra and in almost all churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Churches in many cities and villages of Ukraine”.
