In the Ternopil region, the religious procession of the UOC to Pochaiv on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord was banned

In the Ternopil region, the authorities banned the procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Pochaev Lavra on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. This was stated by the chairman of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Trush after a meeting of the Regional Defense Council.

According to him, information appeared that on August 19, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, believers of the UOC plan to make a procession from the Khmelnytsky region to the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, in the Ternopil region.

«We analyzed the mass events that took place in the region in past years, and came to the conclusion that within the framework of this procession there may be provocations of the enemy, violations of public law and order, which can be used by the propaganda media,» Trush said.

The ban will also apply to events on August 28, when the Orthodox celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
