In Chernihiv at the request of the Ministry of Culture, access to the cathedral and monastery of the UOC was blocked

On the morning of October 5, unknown people in camouflage uniforms surrounded the Transfiguration and Holy Trinity cathedrals, as well as the Eletsky Nunnery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Chernihiv. This is reported by the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Thus, access to these churches was blocked, and the service was interrupted.
According to representatives of the Chernihiv Diocesan Office, after a call to the police, it was found out that these events are taking place on the orders of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, whose representatives are planning to arrive in Chernihiv today on a working visit. However, the blocking party could not provide any authorization documents or court decisions authorizing the blocking of the central temples and monastery of the Chernihiv diocese of the UOC.
As explained in the Office of the Chernihiv diocese of the UOC, the blocked churches and the Eletsky nunnery are still undergoing legal proceedings and no final decisions allowing the blocking of the churches have been made.
