Lviv regional council deputies demand from the Verkhovna Rada "final ban" of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On October 26, 2023, at the XIX extraordinary session of the Lviv regional council of the VIII convocation deputies adopted an appeal regarding the «final and complete ban» of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the press service of the Lviv regional council.

Deputy Roman Kizima initiated the consideration of the issue.

«We, the deputies of the Lviv Regional Council, call on all regional and Kyiv City Military Administration, as well as our colleagues — deputies of regional councils, to immediately implement the necessary measures to terminate all lease agreements, use of land and property associated with the UOC. We also demand from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to develop the necessary mechanisms to alienate all the property of the UOC. We demand from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to make a decision on the final ban of the UOC on the territory of Ukraine!», — the appeal said.

For his part, the acting head of the Lviv regional council, Yuriy Kholod, said that «apart from the new law, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to adopt in the second reading, we have a whole range of tools with the help of which we can fight enemy agents at all levels. In fact, we only need the desire and determination on the ground. And Lviv region is an example of this».
