"73 proceedings and 22 verdicts": the SBU reported on the work against clergymen

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, has reported on the work of the special services with regard to representatives of the clergy who, according to the SBU, cooperated with Russia and undermined national security. He said this during the forum “Ukraine. Year 2024”.

“Among other things, work continues to purge the church environment of Russian influence. To date, the courts have already handed down 22 convictions of clergymen. Those who under a cassock and with a censer commit crimes against the foundations of national security have no indulgence. We document them accordingly”, – Maliuk said.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that Metropolitan Feodosiy (Snigiryov) of Cherkasy and Kanev recently received a fourth suspicion from the SBU. The reason for this was the Metropolitan’s statements about the seizure of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monastery in Cherkasy and the expulsion and beating of church ministers. The SBU claims that they are fakes.
