The Macedonian Church has established a commission to investigate the status of the OCU

The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church has decided to set up a commission to investigate the Ukrainian church issue. It is reported that the subject of the study will be the status of the OCU, which has received recognition and autocephaly from the Patriarchate of Constantinople. This is stated on the official website of the Macedonian Church.

“The Synod paid serious attention to the study of the Ukrainian Church question and established a commission that will study the status of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which received autocephaly from the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Commission is chaired by Metropolitan Bregalnitsky. Hilarion, and the vice-president is Bishop of Deladrova-Ilinden Mr. Joachim“, – the Synod said in a statement.

It is worth noting that on March 28, 2023, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church at its regular meeting considered the possibility of liturgical co-service of the OCU. At that time it was decided “not to co-serve with the representatives of the OCU until the final settlement of the problem of its status at the level of world Orthodoxy”.
