In Rivne region, after the decision to take turns, representatives of the OCU seized the UOC church

On April 19, 2024, in the village of Bronniki in Rivne region, supporters of the OCU seized the local Holy Protection Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church despite the agreements reached earlier with the UOC community on the alternate use of the religious building. This is reported by the official website of the Rivne diocese of the UOC.

Eyewitnesses say that, probably, the supporters of the OCU were preparing for such a development of events in advance, having made a duplicate of the keys to the temple. The seizure of the Holy Protection Church took place quietly, so that the religious community of the UOC did not have time to gather and give a worthy response.

«Once again convinced that with the supporters of the OCU no agreements do not work. On Sunday agreed on alternate worship. And on Monday a working group, which was to include parishioners from both sides, was to discuss the schedule of alternating services. In fact, as on Monday, on Tuesday and other days the head of the OCU congregation explained by phone that some lawyers should contact me. He constantly said that there was no time and postponed the meeting to the next day. Already after the first call it was clear that there would be no meeting» , — comments the head of the legal department of the Rivne diocese of the UOC Archpriest Vasyl Nachev.

It should be noted that earlier we reported that the Rivne diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church decided to take turns using the Holy Protection Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Bronniki with representatives of the OCU. The decision was made after the inter-confessional conflict that took place on April 14, 2024.
