Robert Amsterdam appealed to the UN on the issue of persecution of the UOC

The head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has sent a written appeal to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk. In the appeal, the lawyer described cases of persecution and repression against the clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The letter is published on savetheuoc.com.

“Despite the General Assembly’s calls on governments to take a number of positive steps in implementing the Action Plan to Combat Religious Intolerance and Violence against Persons Based on Religion or Belief, the Government of Ukraine joins the systematic campaign of intolerance, use of negative stereotypes, stigmatization, discrimination and violence against the UOC and its clergy,” – the letter reads.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that media resources defending the interests of the OCU initiated an information campaign to discredit the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The website “Religion in Ukraine” published a material entitled “Robert Amsterdam’s White Paper. A man-chapitot”. The author of the publication, Tetyana Derkach, tries to convince readers that Amsterdam’s work to protect the UOC is rather a way of drawing attention to the problem than actually solving it.
