On June 1-2, 2024, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of America, Archbishop Tikhon of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, made an official visit to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated Divine Services in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Chernivtsi and the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in Banchensk in the company of the Primate and hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the official website of the UOC.

“I cordially thank Your Beatitude, the priesthood, clergy and all the people present here in Chernivtsi for this warm welcome, for your sincere hospitality. And I want to reaffirm once again my unwavering, fraternal love for you, Your Beatitude, for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the entire Ukrainian people. We recognize and support not only the desire and opportunity and all the efforts of Ukraine as a state to defend its borders and its sovereignty from the aggression that was launched by the Russian Federation, we would also like to urge all society and especially the authorities to respect freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, so that all the processes and norms of international law are respected,” — said the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.

Recall, earlier we reported that the Council of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, held from May 14 to 18, 2024, adopted a final statement in which it expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Serbian Church called for peacemaking initiatives towards Ukraine and Palestine.
