The SSU told why the vicar of the Sviatogorsk Lavra is not released from the pre-trial detention center

The Security Service of Ukraine has explained why Metropolitan Arseniy (Yakovenko), the vicar of the Holy Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra, has not yet been released from the detention center. The agency claims that the investigation into the bishop’s case is ongoing and additional evidence of his guilt is being collected. About it reports “Ukrinform”.

«The investigation in the criminal proceedings is still ongoing. You saw that the court did not agree to release the metropolitan on bail and extended his detention in a temporary detention center, so the criminal proceedings continue … The collection of evidence continues, additional certain expert examinations are necessarily appointed,” — said the head of the press service of the SSU MO in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Galina Prischepa.

She assured that as soon as the case will be transferred to the court, she will definitely inform journalists. “And all the more I will inform when there will already be a verdict”, — said the representative of the SSU.

We will remind, on May 13, 2024, while speaking during the court session in Dnipro appeal court, the vicar of the Holy Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseny (Yakovenko) gave a comment on the charges brought against him. The hierarch said that he did not recognize his guilt in disclosing the positions of the AFU.
