Bulgaria urged the president to convene the National Security Council because of the interference of the USA and the Phanar in the election of the Primate of the BOC.

The Bulgarian political party Renaissance has called on the president and the country’s government to convene the National Security and Defense Council in connection with the interference of the United States and the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the election of the Bulgarian patriarch. The head of the party Kostadin Kostadinov is convinced that the joint actions of the US and the Phanar on the Bulgarian patriarchal throne, will lead the country to war, and the Church — to a split. The politician cites the Ukrainian situation as an example. The NEWS.BG website reports that.

«The Bulgarian Orthodox Church is one of the pillars important for the national security of our country, and it is unacceptable that it is controlled by foreign agents of influence posing as clerics. The role of the United States in this process of control over the Bulgarian Orthodox Church is obvious. “It is obvious that it is carried out with the kind assistance of the Ecumenical Patriarch and some Bulgarian bishops and metropolitans who have violated the canon and served with schismatics in Turkey,” — the Revival Party said.

The party head added that Bulgaria is being led by the Ukrainian scenario. Kostadiev is convinced that the influence on the Bulgarian Patriarchate from across the ocean could become the starting point of unrest and problems in the state.

«And the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, as well as the Bulgarian state, are being led according to the Ukrainian scenario. Our Church is being led to schism, like the Ukrainian Church, and our state is being led to war. If we want to assess what the consequences of this split will be, each of us can scrutinize the split in the Ukrainian Church, the persecution and physical abuse of priests there. A united and independent Church is an important component of a united state. It is not accidental that historically, when our country lost its independence, the Church lost its independence along with it,” — Kostadin Kostadiev added.

The politician called on the president and the government to convene a local SNBO on the issue and limit the external influence on the BOC.

“We want President Rumen Radev to immediately convene the National Security Advisory Council on the issue of US interference in the election of the Bulgarian Patriarch, which poses a threat to Bulgaria’s national security,” — Kostadiev concluded.

Recall, the Hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Luke of Zaporozhye and Melitopol called on the episcopate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church not to deviate from the observance of church canons and not to violate the unity of Orthodoxy to please interested parties. Metropolitan Luke believes that the position on the Ukrainian church crisis, which the BOC chose under the late Patriarch Neophytos, is the most optimal for preserving the Church from drifting into schism. The hierarch wrote about this in an open letter addressed to the BOC episcopate.
