Two more UOC priests exchanged to Russia as prisoners of war

Under the prisoner-of-war exchange program between Ukraine and Russia, two priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who served sentences in penal colonies on different articles were expelled from the country. We are talking about the former clerics of the Konotop and Dnipropetrovsk dioceses of the UOC, who were sentenced to 15 and 5 years in prison, respectively. This is reported by ZAXID.NET.

It is reported that the cleric of the Dnipropetrovsk diocese of the UOC Archpriest Alexander Lunegov was sentenced to five years on charges of justifying aggression against Ukraine. The second priest, the rector of the St. George church of the UOC in Yampil, Priest Mykola Zakroets, was sentenced to 15 years for state treason. According to media reports, both priests were included in the exchange fund along with Metropolitan of Tulchyn and Bratslav Jonathan and expelled from Ukraine last week.

Recall, earlier we reported that the 75-year-old hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Tulchyn and Bratslav Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletskykh), sentenced to 5 years in prison, was released from custody. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia personally petitioned for his release.
