Poroshenko set to 'engage in battle' with UOC 'on this week'

Former Ukrainian President and MP Petro Poroshenko has published a congratulatory message on the 1036th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus in which he said that «this week» he would «enter the battle» with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. About this the former President wrote on his page in Facebook.
«Today is more acute than ever the question of adopting a law to ban the Russian pseudo-church structure, which masquerades under the signboard of the UOC MP. It turns out that this structure has a considerable number of lobbyists in the authorities, who have been blocking the adoption of the relevant law in the second reading for several months now. This week we will enter the battle with this unclean force, which is against the faith, and therefore against the army, and against the language, and against Ukraine», — wrote Poroshenko.
We will remind, earlier we reported that the former Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Igor Mosiychuk shared his opinion on the information manipulation around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The MP believes that far-fetched accusations against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are political in nature and are beneficial primarily for former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who again wants to use the church issue in his political program.
