"Without Kazan, Iverskaya and others": the Synod of the OCU canceled the veneration of a number of Virgin Mary icons and saints "associated with Russia"

The Synod of the OCU, which met in Kyiv on July 14, adopted a number of calendar decisions, as a result of which the organization canceled the veneration of several icons of the Virgin Mary and saints, which, in their opinion, are associated exclusively with the Russian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the OCU website.
It is reported that the icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary were excluded from the list of revered icons: Kazan, Iveron, Trinity and Seven Arrows. According to the members of the OCU Synod, these icons are somehow connected with the history of the «Moscow state», so they have no place in the church calendar of the OCU.
In addition, St. Jonah, Metropolitan of Moscow, Kyiv and All Russia, was also included in the «sanctions list» of the OCU synod. The OCU claims that St. Jonah, «contrary to the canons, without conciliar decisions and the blessing of the Ecumenical Patriarch,» divided the Kyiv Metropolis, forming a separate Moscow Metropolis, and then tried to establish control over the Kyivan See, where another metropolitan was appointed.
Earlier, we reported that on February 2, 2024, the Synod of the OCU decided to remove the day of remembrance of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky from the church calendar.
