“The law on the ban of the UOC may be put to a vote tomorrow,” - MP Shevchenko

Ukrainian MP Yevhen Shevchenko reported that the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, Nikita Poturaev, demanded that the bill №8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, be put forward on Tuesday, July 23. About this Shevchenko wrote in his Telegram-channel.
“People’s Deputy Nikita Poturaev, who remained “politically nobody”( from Truskavets) initiates for tomorrow in Parliament to bring a bill on the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He has already sent letters to all heads of factions, demanding that the bill be immediately put to a vote in the Ukrainian parliament. According to information in the media, he is one of the possible candidates for getting into US sanctions for violation of religious rights and freedoms,” – wrote Shevchenko.
We will remind, earlier we reported that on July 18, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy considered the latest amendments made to the bill № 8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Based on the results of the meeting, the Committee members urged MPs to put the bill to a vote in the second reading.
