“No one will make a gift to Poroshenko in the form of the adoption of this law,” - political scientist about the ban of the UOC

Ukrainian political analyst Kostyantyn Bondarenko has commented on the prospects for the adoption of the scandalous draft law No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The expert is convinced that since the issue of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is headed by Petro Poroshenko’s opposition party, the authorities will not benefit from its adoption. About it the political scientist told in a comment to the edition Strana.ua.
“To make him (Poroshenko, ed.) a gift in the form of this law, which he, of course, he will call his victory, no one will. Bankova decided that it’s better not to take risks. They (the authorities — ed.) will not stop pressurizing the UOC: there will remain criminal cases, and churches will be seized. But without sharp movements like legislative formalization of the actual ban of the UOC”, — said the political scientist.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the head of the department of interaction with religious communities of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience Vyacheslav Goroshkov commented on the scandalous bill No. 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Goroshkov noted that the said draft law, in its current wording, does not comply with the Ukrainian and European norms of legislation in terms of freedom of religion, which is why it should not be adopted.
