The Patriarchate of Constantinople has released a statement on the anti-Christian performance at the opening of the 2024 Olympics

The press service of the Patriarchate of Constantinople has issued a statement on the anti-Christian performance that took place at the opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The Phanar said that blasphemy is not a sign of progress and cannot be justified in any way, as it violates the right to faith and respect for religious symbols. The Light of the Fanar website reported that.
“It was with great sadness that we observed during the ceremony in Paris offensive images of Christianity and the Holy Gospel, as well as of every civilized person who recognizes the right to faith and respect for religious symbols. Far from enriching the ceremony, these images marred it. To blaspheme God is not progress, nor is it a right to insult the religious beliefs of one’s neighbors. Spontaneous expression of disgust and disapproval on the part of people, we hope, became a loud enough signal for those who make decisions, and a source of hope to prevent similar actions in the future,” — said in the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
We will remind, the day before the speaker of the OCU Eustraty Zorya reacted to the anti-Christian performance in Paris during the opening of the “Olympics-2024”. The representative of the OCU emphasized that Ukrainians should not turn away from Europe, even despite the blasphemy that occurred in France. He noted that Ukraine had no other allies.
