On August 10, 2024 in the city of Kanev, Cherkassy region, a meeting of the territorial community was held to decide the fate of further confessional affiliation of the local ancient Holy Dormition Cathedral of Cherkassy diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. By roll call vote the church was «transferred» to the PCU. This is reported by the publication «Suspilne.Cherkasy».
As reported in the media, the next step will be an appeal by supporters of the PCU to transfer to them for use Kanevsky Uspensky Cathedral, which is owned by the state and is an architectural monument of national importance.
