We shall remind you that on July 1, 2024 employees of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Ancient Vladimir”, law enforcers and representatives of Volyn Regional State Administration tried to take away from the Vladimir-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the Uspensky Cathedral and the complex of premises where the diocesan administration and the Vladimir-Volyn Theological School are located. The commission formed by the state wanted to inventory the property and demanded that the diocesan leadership sign an act of acceptance and transfer.
In Volyn, the court opened proceedings against one of the UOC dioceses over the cathedral

The economic court of Volyn Region has opened proceedings against the Volodymyr-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The subject of the lawsuit filed on the initiative of the Volyn regional administration is the Uspensky Cathedral and the complex of premises housing the diocesan administration and the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Theological School, which the state is trying to expropriate from the church. This is reported by the regional edition “Bug”.
“On August 5, the court considered the claim of the regional military administration. This is stated in the relevant ruling. The statement of claim states that the use of property after the termination of the contract is unlawful, and therefore from the 1st of July the religious organization of Vladimir-Volyn diocese of the UOC has no legal grounds for the use of monuments of architecture of national importance, which belongs to the state property. Also, the Volyn regional military administration claims that the Holy Assumption Cathedral is in the use of the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church without any legal basis,” – the statement said.
