“Finally they said in a direct text that it is about banning the UOC,” - Tetyana Derkach about the bill No. 8371

Religious scholar and media lobbyist of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Tetyana Derkach has criticized Ukrainian MPs for lying about the draft law No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Derkach believes that the deputies are deliberately lying, stating that this law will not ban any religious organization in Ukraine. About this she wrote on her page in Facebook.

“Volodymyr Vyatrovych: “We do not withdraw our demand to ban the UOC (MP), which was formulated at the last meeting of the Verkhovna Rada. That is, it is with the consideration of this bill should begin the next session of Parliament. As far as we know, so far it is planned for August”. God, well, finally said in direct text: “banning the UOC-MP.” Why lie to the whole committee that it is about banning only the “Russian church”? So many lies and manipulations, as much as the developers of the second reading of 8371 have produced, I have not heard or seen,” — writes Derkach.

The expert added that in addition to the untenable bill, some lobbyists of the UOC ban are now actively trying to neutralize the influence of the Patriarchate of Constantinople on this issue. She is convinced that if the law is passed in its current form, it will bring a lot of trouble to the state.

“Now they decided to neutralize the issue of connection of Constantinople, having thrown in a mulka about some “second tomos” for the UOC, attributing it to the opponents of 8371, and began to heroically fight their own throw-in. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but the reality may be quite different. Kindergarten. Do a normal bill in a package with canonical crisis management so the whole country doesn’t get skewered later, and don’t make a clown show. And don’t lie. Good deeds are not done by lies,” — Derkach emphasized.

We shall remind you that earlier Ludmyla Filipovych, Doctor of Philosophy, professor at the Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, commented on the failed attempt of the Verkhovna Rada deputies to vote in favor of the bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Filipovych said that the adoption of the law in the current version would put an end to the history of religious freedom in Ukraine.
