Phanar delegation meets with representatives of UOC and OCU

On August 22, 2024, a delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which arrived in Ukraine to resolve the church conflict, held a series of meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the OCU. This was reported by the sources of the Raskolam.net publication.

According to the available information, during the meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Primate of the Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine and the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanych), took part in the conversation.

At the same time, a press release was published on the OCU website, according to which it became known that the head of the organization Epiphany Dumenko insisted that he was ready for a dialogue with the UOC, but without taking into account the requirements put forward by the canonical Church.

“A real and sincere dialogue, which is intended to have real prospects, cannot begin except with ordinary communication without prior calls for surrender, which obviously cannot be fulfilled. We are once again taking steps towards dialogue, and a week ago I again appealed to Metropolitan Onufriy to start a dialogue, and yesterday, during a speech on the air of the United News telethon, I reiterated my words. So far, we have not received any positive response,” — Dumenko said.

As reported earlier, a delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople arrived in Ukraine on August 21, 2024. The purpose of the visit is called “finding ways of understanding between the Orthodox of Ukraine and dialogue to achieve unity in the church issue.”
